Making sense of the Red Dragon and the Young woman may seem daunting, but the Gospel message at its core does more than shine through; It unites the book of Revelation and pulls each vision into conversation with it. In many ways, you can’t understand the book of Revelation without understanding its centerpiece, the Red Dragon and the True King.

The seven seals of Revelation 6 highlight the inevitable trajectory of sin as it plummets into death and destruction. And the Seven trumpets that follow reveal God’s redemptive plan to see His kingdom come and His will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Revelation chapter 4 moves us to the throne room of God, where we see that Creation was designed to worship God alone and orient our lives toward him. Here we see not only God’s patient grace but his desire that every person could join his heavenly court.

The Seven Churches are real historical churches with a real history and real problems. However, John’s words to them offer a timeless truth. This week we looked at the church of Sardis and saw how their misplaced hope led to defeat and embarrassment. However, the promise of Christ is one whose victory is certain and the call to the Christian is to place our hope in Him.

As we jump into Revelation, we see Christ as the risen ruler and the one who holds the keys to death and Hades, assuring us of His ultimate victory. Despite persecution and suffering, we are to remain steadfast in our mission, knowing that Christ conquers through a position of meekness and that our citizenship is in His eternal kingdom. The call is to endure, trust in God’s sovereignty, and live as ambassadors of His grace and peace in a world in turmoil.

God’s pace is not a sign of negligence. It is built from his love for us, but not just us. It is built on his love “not wishing that any should perish but that all should reach repentance.” He moves with a pace that is patient for us and calls us to shape our lives for the world to come. A world where righteousness dwells.
